There is a local coffee shop in the square which also serves snacks and the traditional souvlaki. There is also a mini-grocery store in walking distance,in the square and a post box and two churches. Enjoy walking through the village with its cobbled narrow alleyways and stone tower houses.
The nearest beach is pebbled and is just a few minutes by car.It has beautiful scenery.If you find it difficult to walk on the pebbles than wear plastic shoes when you go in the sea.

Kotronas, which is a picturesque resort, has the view which can be seen from the studio/room. It is a lovely fishing village and also has the traditional, typical stone-tower houses. If you enjoy fishing or yachting then this is the place for you.It has a small, sandy beach. It is only 10 minutes by car.It was once the sight of ancient Tenthroni. There is a cafeteria on the sea-front where you can try freshly cooked octopus (meze) and drink ouzo.
Areopolis, which is about 13km away, is an old small town which one cant afford not to visit. Take the north-east road if you want to go to the town. It is situated in the heart of the Mani. There are a few excellent tavernas and small stone authentic shops. It is unique in itself as its part of one of the most historic regions. Its enjoyable to walk around the old part of the town with its cobbled alleyways and paths. Its the nearest place for shopping and you ll find quant little shops built from stone.
On the outskirts of Areopolis there is a pebble beach which is very popular with the locals.
Visiting the Caves of Dirou are a must! They are said to be the most famous caves in Europe and are quite magnificent! Treat yourself to a day out. Its easy to get to by car, about 15km away. Experienced Guides will take you around the caves in small boats. Watch your heads, as the caves are low in places! Suitable clothing is advisable. There are shops for refreshments and one can also buy souvenirs.
As you travel along the winding roads, you can feel a sense of nostalgia and you can feel the silent atmosphere in the depth of the nearby mountains. Its a feeling which is almost difficult to describe.
Local farmers can be seen out in the wilderness tending cattle and goats. They often have to water the animals far up into the mountains usually on foot or by donkey. Very often elderly women can be seen doing this and sitting or walking next to a donkey with a heavy work load.
Recently, a new road has been built which passes on the outskirts of the Mani. It takes you around the mountains and one can enjoy the peaceful environment with the sea and unbelievable, amazing panoramic views of the landscape.
Githio is a town which boasts a picturesque harbour. There are many tavernas and restaurants which serve traditional Greek dishes and fresh fish including lobster, shrimps, and octopus- a must!
